Founded in 1998 by Carnegie Mellon researchers, MAYA Viz successfully executed consulting projects and Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA) programs that helped distributed military commanders collaborate. The Command Post of the Future (CPOF) was subsequently fielded and has since revolutionized battlefield command and control.
